Sera is a full-time performer, Instructor, and choreographer of Belly dance, based in New York City and director of Solstice (a bellydance company), and has created an instructional belly dance video entitled "East Coast Tribal".  Sera's primary form of creative expression is through Tribal styles of belly dance. Her movements are rooted in Tribal Fusion Bellydance, drawing from ballet, Modern, Jazz, hip-hop, and ATS tribal to make a blend of what she calls East Coast Tribal.  Sera is interested in using movements of bellydance as a tool for communication.  Her performances are an expression of the bold feminine.  Sera has performed in numerous companies, including 3 nationally respected companies:  Bellyqueen, Raqs Sahara, and the Silk Road Dance company, and is now director of Solstice.

Serious dance training began as a member of the student Tribal performance troupe Raqs Caravan West, under the direction of Rachel Brookmire, who created the Sahara School of Dance in Washington DC, where Sera was of the first instructors. Sera was a founding member of a tribal bellydance community called DC Tribal, and directed the short-lived improv-performance troupe, Transcendance Tribal, just before moving to New York.  Sera was invited to India to teach dance as a means of healing and empowerment to young women who had been rescued from sexual abuse. Through this experience, she found the importance of infusing artistic expression in bellydance.  Sera's most recent project is the recently released instructional DVD, entitled East Coast Tribal. Sera also created and curated the first weekly Tribal fusion event in New York with the band Djinn.  This event, called New Moon, ran for one year, and featured the best fusion artists of the city and united the dance community.  Sera strives to push the boundaries of definition of belly dance, and seeks to cultivate environments and events which encourage dancers to use belly dance as a tool for creative expression transcending formal presentation and physical display.
